Watch our webinar recording
Watch our free webinar recording to find out more about Ask Me: Education and the resources, tools and training available to those working in education. You’ll hear from bereavement specialists, bereaved students and other educators already embracing this approach.
Training course
Our new Ask Me: Education training is designed to provide those working in education with tools and techniques to enable them to more effectively support young people who are bereaved or who are facing the death of someone important to them. The training supports those working in education to use the Ask Me: Education Manifesto and Bereavement Plans with grieving students in their care.
It is based on ditching the ‘one size fits all’ approach to bereavement support in education and offering compassionate, tailored grief support to students who need it. You’ll learn the power of listening to bereaved students, giving them a voice and choice in how they are supported through grief and gain the confidence and tools to do this.
Help us turn Ask Me: Education into a national movement by sharing it with your networks
Below is a template letter/email you can download and adapt to send to your leadership team, a poster to put up in your staff room or on your intranet and some images you can share on your social media. Here is some suggested wording:
Right now, at least one child or young person in every classroom across the UK is grieving the death of a parent or sibling. It’s time for a new approach to supporting bereaved students. No more one-size-fits-all bereavement policies. Instead of assuming, ask them one simple but powerful question: What do you need and how can we support you?
I’ve signed and implemented the Ask Me: Education Manifesto and Bereavement Plans. Will you join the movement? winstonswish.org/askme
