Thank you so much for taking the time to write to your child’s school as part of the Ask Me: Education campaign. By speaking up, you are not only advocating for your own child’s needs but also standing with thousands of other grieving children and young people who deserve to be feel seen, understood and supported in their learning environments. Â
Below you can find everything you need to talk to your child’s education setting about the Ask Me: Education Manifesto and Bereavement Plan, and also a template letter, posters and social media images to help you spread the word far and wide. Â

Right now, at least one child or young person in every classroom across the UK is grieving the death of a parent or sibling. It’s time for a new approach to supporting bereaved students. No more one-size-fits-all bereavement policies. Instead of assuming, ask them one simple but powerful question: What do you need and how can we support you?Â

Speak with a Bereavement Specialist
If you need guidance supporting a bereaved child or young person, our team of specialists can offer advice and guidance. There’s someone available to speak with from 8am to 8pm, Monday to Friday (except bank holidays). There’s no need to book an appointment and no lengthy wait times.
If you need support in a language other than English, we have access to telephone interpreters and we can use the Relay UK app if you have hearing or speech difficulties.  Â
